After a stop in at the other tequilas in town I have decided there are too many service issues with this chain. There are better restaurants in town, leons, Fiesta Guadalajara, and Aztecas to name a few.

How can you not love a place where they serve enough cheese dip appetizer ($5.75) for not only chip dippin' but drenchin' your chicken fajita ($8.99) lunch burrito!? Plus a margarita ($7.75) strong enough to make me want to consult a neurologist for sudden onset of facial tickley tingles... AND when you walk walk in the door, the beautiful Lola will lovingly refer to you as "amigo :-)" until you leave. We'll be back! P.S. Beware regarding margarita sizing... Small and Medium really mean Super Size and Super Friggin' Jumbo.

The dining was delightful and the staff more than accommodating. Lunch was served quick and drinks were kept full. The restrooms could've used some attention, but overall the place was clean. Would definitely stop in again!

I love this Mexican restaurant! The food is great, as are their margaritas and the people who work here are so nice.

I do want to say up front that the food is pretty good, the service is ok,but I warn you, do not order the medium House Margarita. The small is 7+ dollars and the Medium is 12.50,the bad news is it just comes with more ice, total burn. When I asked about the price, all that was said was it's on the menu, which it wasn't . I am from another state, and this is my second time here. After the first time all I could do was brag about the place and now the dissatisfaction that I felt will probably keep me from going back.

Always good food, always so attentive and funny. We have had so many family meals there, from happy moments to sad moments- they have all happened here! The staff is so kind and warm, we always feel welcome and we go at least once a month. They make this California girl feel right at home!

Giant servings. Amazingly nice waitress that patiently split our check. Food was good. I would give 4 stars if there had been more vegetarian options.

These guys had personality, humor and style. Food was good, too. The habenero hot sauce was probably the best I've had and kept my cheeks nice and sweaty like I like 'em when enjoying Mexican food. Definitely coming back, mostly because they gave me shit for my poor Spanish grammar, in the most endearing way. Good times.

Our day srarted with the adventure of 2 Blown tires on I70 so whilst they were replaced at discount tire in Grand Junction CO, we lunched here which we chose thanks to looking thru Yelp reviews & wow what a find The meal started with fantastic fresh & crispy chips served with 2 great salsas I had chile verde burrito & my wife chicken. Carnitas both were excellent. Service was good & decor was very nice, in the very unlikely event we return we would eat here again for sure.

I used to be a regular here until the day I ordered my usual, one of those huge scary looking deep fried tilapias where the tail hags out over the edge of the plate and the head looks like something out of a horror movie, and they brought me two tiny perch sized fish instead. It's almost impossible to get any meat out of a tiny deep fried tilapia. My favorite part of the big one was the cheek meat; try getting cheek meat out of a 5 inch tilapia! If they couldn't source the usual monsters, they should have taken it off the menu until they could. I should have sent the sardines back, but instead I just quit going. There are lots of options in this town for good Mexican restaurants. This is still might be a good choice, but not for pescado dorado.

The salsa was good, but the service was bad. We couldn't get them to take our lunch order even though it was 2pm on Monday. Then they forgot to put my husbands order in, so everyone else's food came and he had to wait. My daughter's hamburger was burned, and the seafood enchiladas had only popcorn shrimp. Then we had to stand to get them to get us our ticket.

Immediate service, tastey chips and salsa, excellent food, overall GREAT! Just passing through, but if we come back into town we'll definitely go back.

Okay so I see quite a few mixed feelings about this place.. well to start its called "Tequila's" so with that in mind I pulled in for a cold margarita.. HOLY SMOKES! AMAZING... even their house margarita was great but a large Cabo Wabo or similar top shelf margarita will blast you right to Mexico. Loved it obviously and have had many-a-more in the last 8 years. Though a little pricey (8-9 for a reg,13 for a large and 20+ for the fishbowl) they are spectacular. (Expect to spend $40-75 for your date and you to have a few drinks and eat the best stuff). Margaritas are served with copious amounts of whatever tequila you order and poured over awesome semi-crushed ice that you will want in ever drink after and a homemade mix, you will be a fan forever. Now a margarita no matter how good does not make a food establishment great. Fortunately they have excellent authentic (as far as I know) Mexican food with large portions. Every table gets fresh warm tortilla chips with two kinds of salsa, a regular tomato base one with cilantro and a somewhat slaw type that are very good and may make you fill up before your food even arrives. Re-fried beans are way yummy and their beef and shrimp combo fajitas will have you looking for a food ambulance to get you to your car. Other opinions on this site are varied but I can say without any hesitation this Mexican place is one of the top 3 (Mexican) in this town. Going to review the next ones soon but this is definitely a treat but again remember, this is "Tequilas" so order a large Cabo Wabo margarita, a combo fajita plate and love every bit of it!!!

We were visiting Grand Junction, CO and, based on it's yelp reviews, decided to try Tequila's. First, let me say that we didn't eat at the restaurant, we got take-out instead. When we got home and started taking everything out of the bags, we realized that their "to-go containers" were foil covered paper plates stacked on top of one another... weird, but you know what, maybe they don't always do that or perhaps it's the economic downturn. We dove into our enormous meals- we were starving. Sadly, I was underwhelmed. My chimichanga was hardly crispy on the outside and VERY greasy on the inside. I'm guessing that it was made long ago and reheated. yuck. The beef in my meal was fatty and extra chewy. Couldn't force myself to eat that either. *sigh* So, the best part of my meal was the rice and refried beans... even the tortillas were the little tiny store-bought kind. This was a disappointment.

I have been going to this restaurant since it opened and consistently have gotten great food. My favorites are carne asada, fabulous chicken mole - best in town, I tried them all; and their free slaw salsa can't be beat. Did I mention the fried ice cream? I always feel after dinner like I was on a short vacation!

Great place for good food and friendly service! Visited this restaurant with my family of 5 while on a road-trip that passed through Grand Junction. We were hungry for Mexican food and found Tequila's after searching Yelp. Ordered 3 meals from the kids menu (chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, and a beef enchilada for my 1 adventurous eater) and then beef and pork fajitas for two, plus drinks and deserts. The service was very good and the fajitas were the best I've had anywhere. We should have just shared a single order of fajitas, because the "for two" order was HUGE - way more than we could eat, but again, very good. I would definitely eat there again if ever in the area.

The worst customer service that I've experienced in a long time...will not go back! Had a discount coupon from restaurant.com and they made us feel terrible that we were using it! The food was no better than taco bell....don't bother!

Average at best, your basic neighborhood combination, beans, and rice mexican restaurant.. Only bottled beer, no drafts.

After a day of mountain biking in Fruita, there's nothing like cold beers and Mex food to ease your pains.... Tequila's serves great straight-up Sonoran style Mexican, with prompt service and great prices. On my next trip to the Bookcliffs, I've got Tequila's in mind afterwards...

Being from Southern CA and moving to the Grand Junction area, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find good "authentic" Mexican food. I was wrong and very happy for it! I have visited both of Tequila's locations in GJ and they are equal in quality, service, very yummy food and the BEST margarita's in the Grand Valley! One of my ways of rating a Mexican food restaurant is to try their Chili Relleno. I was leery when they asked if I wanted it crispy or not as I had never been asked that question before and was sure I would be disappointed. I ordered it "crispy" and delighted in every last delicious melty, cheesy bite! I will say their Relleno was even better than homemade back in CA. All in all, I have no issues with the atmosphere (the location on North Ave was a bit noisy, but it was a busy Friday night - so to be expected) or the service, but even if I did, the food and cocktails would still bring me back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
